Jesus is born

Jesus is born

Two thousand years ago in a city called Nazareth, there lived a woman called Mary. Suddenly Mary meet a wonderful man called Joseph. When it was Mary’s sleep time an angel appeared and said “God has chosen you to be the mother of Jesus ‘’. seconds later Mary answered the angel she said “I am pleased to do what god wishes”.

Angel
When the angel was gone Mary went and told  Joseph about it. Then when Joseph was dreaming and and also visited him in his dream to tell him. In his dream the angel said “Take care of Mary she is going to have a baby’’. And he was happy to hear about it

Journey to Bethlehem
Some time later Mary and Joseph got married. Afterwards they both travelled to Bethlehem. Joseph settled a donkey for Mary to set on and they set off on their journey. When they arrived to Bethlehem there were so many people also there. As they arrived they talked to this man and asked if there was a place they could stay in.

Jesus is born
The angry man said “Hmmm but there is a stable that you can stay in’’. Mary and Joseph  were happy so they went and stayed there for the night.  Suddenly  the angels appeared to tell  the amazing news about it. When Jesus was born the star was up. Then wise men followed the star and they went to the stable. When they got there  they gave Jesus some gifts and it was gold, frankincense, and myrrh. And that was the end of the story.

Auckland Art gallery

Our trip to the Art gallery
On friday class ten, nine and some of the other year 5 kids from class six traveled to the art gallery.
When we where on the bus to the art gallery the bus was full of excitement. As soon as we got there we jumped off the bus and walked to the entrance. Then the parents when talking about our sessions. I will tell you more about our sessions on the other paragraphs.

Session one
When it was our first session it was our gallery tour. If you do not know what it means it means all groups got a lady that gave us a tour around the gallery. In my group we had a lovely woman named charlotte. She took us to look at how a picture tells a story. After that every group went to were we usually meet. Then we have our break.

Session two
When our break got completed our class (class 10) went with Mandy to the studio. Did you know that the studio was my favorite room. It was so fun, but what we actually did was telling a story in our paper jar. Afterwards it was our second break and it was just like our first one.

Session three
Just as our break was done this was the part when we have our free time. That was the part when we get to do the lego and the learning center.  Then we split up into our groups but my group went to the lego first.

Conclusion
Towards the end of our lovely trip we had to meet where we always meet to hop on the bus, and get back to school. While we where on the bus boys were on in the front of the bus, and girls were at the back of the bus. Next time if you go to the Auckland art gallery and you see more about it you have to tell me about your trip there.

Vietnam

What is Culture? by Vinolia

What is Culture?
Cultures are what make countries unique. Each country has different cultural activities and cultural rituals. Culture is seen in peoples  writing, religion, music, clothes, cooking and what they do.

Culture also includes the way people understand the world and their own lives. Different countries have different culture’s. For example, some older japanese people wear kimonos,  arranging flower in vases and have tea siromoni.

My family is from Tonga. In my culture we eat pig and that is my favorite culture food. Sometimes when we have special things like a wedding we wear a special tapa mat, that is about your body size and then we put oil on our skin to make it shine. Once we are done getting ready the girls go to the dancing area. Then, once the music plays then we dance. And that is one of the dance for the girls it is called the tau'olunga.

The world war 1 was an epic fight. All over the world people had to lose their lives for their countries and families.

Mr Burt and Mrs Flavell’s grandad’s  fought in WW1. The Victoria Cross was awarded to all of the soldiers who fought in the war.  The soldiers fought in Gallipoli, in Turkey. The New Zealand and Australian troops were called the ANZACS, that is why we wear the poppy.

My Holiday highlight

My Holiday highlight

Somewhere in Sylvia Park, big room, so many chairs. Yes if you guessed the Hoyts in Sylvia Park your right. On Friday 18th July. I went with my older sister and my cousin to watch Maleficent.

Off we went to Sylvia Park and as soon as we got there we walked to the Hoyts. Me and my cousin were so disappointed when we saw the movie board was full, as I was dying to go to that movie. The only movie that was not full was Transformers 4 and Dawn of the planet of the apes. We decided to watch Dawn of the plant of the apes.

So at 2:40 we went and watched the ads. And just before the movie I started to eat the pods because I was hungry. And most of the movie was  so sad. When it got to the war bit it was so loud that my ears where going to pop.

After the movie we got some sushi and we were in a rush because we had youth. But my sister and I went to drop of my cousin.

Next time I hope that we finally watch Maleficent, but Dawn of the planet of the apes was not that bad. See you later goodbye.
