Inference
This is also one of my catch up post. In this activity, we
were to read different text to answer questions. I finished it
off this morning in the literacy block.
Athletics Recount Writing
Last Friday (10/11/12) was Pt England school's Athletics day! In our athletics day, there are different stations. Such as high jump, sprints, discus, shot put, and much more! If you come 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in any of the games, then you will go to the East Inter zone.
It was a fun day to experience. The good thing was, all my friends were there and we were just having a blast! My favourite activity was dodge ball. Then fun thing about it was just that we were just having fun throwing the ball at each other. We were also earning points for our house colour.
Before the day ended, our school had a relay. It was a race! First, the house captains picked fast students to participate in the race. After that race, parents and teachers gathered in to race (Only parents who wanted to race). It was funny because one of the teachers (Miss Scanlan) fell.

Achive your personal best!
Achieving your personal best is the best thing to do. When you achieve something in life, the best thing to do is make it your best! Your future depends on what you achieve and not achieve in life. If you want something really bad, you have got to earn it. One thing someone told me was that I should practice, practice, practice to make perfect!
Once you have practised, you will need to have experienced it! For example, let’s look at the Mate Ma’a Tonga team in rugby league world cup! Some on the talented players have been chosen to play for countries. The countries that have chosen the players pay the players a lot of money. But instead they have chosen to play for their home country! Instead they only get paid $30 per day. The members of the Mate Ma’a Tonga team had sent this as there inspirational quote, country over currency!
The games that they had for the seniors on our school fields were… Volleyball, Dodgeball, Javelin, there were also different types of obstacles to play! In some of the stations, there were adults to guide us students. My goal on Friday was try to participate in every station and do my best in it. I achieved it!
Our first station was Javelin. Tyson was the adult in that station. We rotated around the bottom fields. I recon the most nerve racking station was the sprints. Before we were racing I could feel goosebumps growing on my skin, but I had to think of something that will distract me. I didn’t do well in everything, but I did do my best.
Athletics was a day to remember! My friends were all there and we had a great time! The best part is, we all tried our best even though some of us weren’t good at it.

Mr Patterson's Speech
This morning in literacy class, the whole of team 5 had to meet in the street at 9.30 for a special guest speaker. Before that we did a bit of literacy before we gathered in the street. His face was familiar, I notist him from last year. He came and spoke to us with two students from Tamaki College. This year he came by himself.
Today he was talking about inspiring things. He had a presentation ready for us to see. On one of the slides there were these 3 letters... "A + I = M" He gave us time to try figure out what it meant. It was Aspiration + Inspiration = Motivation!
One of the other stories was how he was coming back to NZ from Australia, ans his flight got cancelled. So Air New Zealand had to book hotel rooms, and at the hotel, there was this long line and a young couple with 3 children under the age of 5 at the back behind 100 people. So he let them in front of himself, then another person offers them in front of the line. The point was... The more you give the more you get!
He also talked about this 11 year old boy called Willy who was walking to school and saw a homeless man crying of sadness, so he gave him his lunch money. He did it for about a week. The homeless man was so impressed he walked with Willy to school and told the principle. Willy got a golden award!

Immersion Assembly Term 4 2017
Immersion Assembly
Yesterday morning was the first day of term 4 (16/10/17). It was that time of the day when team 5 had to met in the street to do our usual routine. We did our mihi and karakia, as always. Then Mrs Tele'a explained about our day. It was 9 o'clock and we filed out in our GB lines (girl/boy) into the hall from the street. We were finally seated in the hall and the assembly began.
We were greeted with a song from Mr Burt, Mr Jacobson, Mrs Nua, Mr Somerville, and Mr Wiseman called musical madness. They played instruments and sang at the same time. As some of you know, the theme for this term is Musical Madness, so they sang a song about music. After the song, Mr Burt announced to the school that it was time for team 1 to perform.
So the teachers in team 1 are Mrs Hockley, Mrs Lal, Miss Szymanik, Mrs Dwyer, Mrs Squires, and a teacher who will be with them for 4 weeks, and her name is Miss Clark. In their performance they were playing a game of snap! While they were playing they had music on. Their main purpose was to show how music can change your feelings and emotions. For example they played The Last Post (Anzac music). It made them feel sad because of the people who died in Anzac.
It was time for team 2's item. The teachers in team 2 are Mrs Tumahai, Miss Peck, Mrs Gaston, and Miss Nalder. They sang a song. The song was In The Jungle. They also used instruments. Mrs Gaston sang and played the ukulele at the same time. Mrs Nalder used a Bongo drum. Mrs Tumahai played a xylophone, and Miss Peck played a little instrument that sounded like a tambourine.
Team 3, it was time for the teachers in team 3 to perform. The teachers in team 3 are Mr Moran, Miss King, Miss Davis, Miss Eddie, and Mrs Moala. They didn't perform, they made a video. Their video was Songs In Real Life. They used different songs to define what they are saying. It was really funny and also entertaining. It was one of my highlights of the Immersion Assembly.
Mr Somerville, Mr Goodwin, Miss Parrant, Miss Scanlan, Miss West, and Mrs Buchanan are the teachers in team 4. They also made a video clip instead of performing. Their movie was about riding to school in a car listening to music. Kind of like carpool karaoke. They also expressed their feelings when they were listening to songs. This was also one of my favourites. I was very interested in their movie.
And finally, the last but not least, team 5! These teachers are the teachers of the seniors. They are Mrs Tele'a, Mrs Ilaoa, Mr Wiseman, Whaea Kelly (Who replaced the beautiful Mrs Judd), and Ms Tapuke. Their performance was about how music and sounds can change the way of the movie. They used a clip from The Lion King, and used different songs and sounds to show how it can easily change the feeling and mood.

Floundering
This morning (27/09/17) the whole of Pt England school walked down to Riverside reserve to support Mr Burt and some of the year 7&8's to catch flounders. The reason being is that when we catch them we put them into the massive tank in the huge white container outside in the court. This morning the whole of Pt England school gathered together and we had a little meeting. It was 10 past 9 and team 5 started walking to the court outside next to the tuck shop. Mr Burt used his siren microphone so that he does not have to scream! He announced out what we were going to do step by step. The meeting took about 10 minuets.
After the meeting the juniors started walking, then the 5&6's, and last was us seniors. As we walked, we walked very carefully on the pedestrian crossing, Miss Hare was guiding everyone to get over safely. We then crossed Tamatea Ave, Miss Wilson was on that street trying to keep us safe when we cross. We kept on walking till we turned right on Riverside road. As we were walking through that street we crossed the road in our class lines, at that point we were on Riki road. We got to our destination, we started singing a waiata. The 12 year 7&8's were catching flounders with Tyson & Mr Vogt. All together they cached about 20 flounders. Afterwards the whole school walked back in one piece!

Word Problems
This week in my maths class, we were given two activities
to complete. The first one was a geometry one, and this one
is a word problem presentation. I completed this together
with Venetia and Yvonne. Today I was learning to show the
steps we took to solve each problem! It is week 6.

Geometry
Today in math, we were to complete this presentation by
12:45! We were learning about geometry. I took these
photos with my partners Yvonne and Venetia! We took these
photos with the class ipads and we upload it into our drives
to put on our presentations. I look forward to doing more fun
things like this in the future!
Wonder (week 1/2)

Geometry
WALT: Draw a 2D representation of a 3D model
& draw a plan for the side, front and top view of a 3D model.
Today in maths class we were to make rocket ships with cubes, and we were learning to draw a 2D representation of a 3D model and draw a plan for the side, front and a top view of a 3D model. We only had time to make the rocket ships today, but maybe we will draw it tomorrow.
In our groups, we had to figure out how to make a rocket shape with the cubes, and we took photos of it with the class iPad, and sent it to our email. Then we put it on our presentation, that our maths teacher made (Mrs Ilaoa). I will complete it and post it by the end of this week!
Here are some photos of our task today!
Team 5's Speech Finals!

imagine how nervous they could have been? At around 12 every class sat down in the street (Team 5's meeting
area) in our home class lines. There were 3 students in every class, that got chosen, there are 5 classes. So
altogether were 15 people who read
there speeches.
There were 2 beautiful judges, Mrs Judd and Ms Tapuke! They were also filming the speeches. There are two people who will get chosen to say there speech in front of Pt England School. I think that Amelia's speech was good, Mubashir's speech was kind of like a comedy speech. I was looking forward to listening to Venetia and Yvonne's speeches. There ones were great too! We are going to find out who is going to be reading there speeches today (Monday, 28th)

Sudoku
I love Sudoku! To me, it is like a warm up. It helps
me get ready for maths. Anyways... this is a view
of what I did in my numeracy class ages ago last term
with Whaia Kelly (reliever). I solved this out with my
maths buddies. It was hard for some students in
my class, and easy for some. When I was younger
I didn't like this game at all! Maybe it was because
I did not know how to play it... Okay! It was. I
have to admit I didn't know, but now I am into
it. Hope you like this post!

Auckland Girls Rugby Intermediate Tournament
Auckland Girls Rugby Intermediate Tournament
Pt England girls came 2nd in the Auckland intermediate tournament. It was a tough final. Congratulations to Ferguson intermediate for coming first. It all started at the East Auckland tournament that we had with Sylvia Park. It was kind of like the State of Origin when we verse the same team in three games. We won all those three games. Then we trained with the girls every week until we reached the "BIG" tournament with all the other schools in Auckland. Our coaches Timmi & her daughter Jaylee worked very hard to make us be the best.
It was the day we have been waiting for. 8.30 was the time we were to be at school by. I got there and girls were already changed, so I went to change into our rugby clothes (Long socks, rugby shorts, and the rugby jersey) and we put on our boots, my position was prop number 1, so obviously there was a 1 on the back of my shirt. Miss Va'afusuaga done the final call, and we were all here ready to go. It was then time for transport! The forwards went with Tyson in one of the vans, then the backs when with Mrs Va'afusuaga in the other van. The tournament was at College Rifles in Remuera.
We pulled up in the car park, we carried the tarpaulin, fruit, and our equipment to the field, luckily the grass was fake! So we couldn't get wet or dirty when we play. We put our bags down neatly and started passing the ball to each other. The 1st round begun, we got off the field so that Ferguson & Henderson intermediate can have there match. We watched there game for the whole game. Ferguson won that match.
It was round 2, our first game was against Kelston intermediate. We won that first game, and we were so happy. After celebrating our win we relaxed for awhile until it was the next round. We did do a bit of training joining round 3. Round 4 was near by. We ate a small snack before our next game. Finlayson Park was our next opposition. That team was very good at defending! It a tough game, we still won that game.
In the next round it was our break time, some of the girls went to the bathroom, while some stayed at the field to watch the other game, and Sabrina, Samoa, and Lani went to refill up the water bottles. During that break I was pretty sure that we were going to make it into the finals!
So just before our next game our coaches and Miss Va'afusuaga gave us a little talk, they said if we win this next game, we are through to the finals! We huddled up to do our cheer that we do before every game. Royal Oak, the girls said that they were very hard last year. So the game began, they were a good team! It was hard for us to score a try. But at the end of the game, we won, unfortunately they had 2 injured players. At the end we tried our best to not be cocky because we felt sorry for them, but in the inside we were celebrating because we were in the finals!
The next break was the last one. Some girls walked off and done some drills, while I went to my supporters (My sister & dad). Sabrina (my cousin) that is another prop came and we stood there while my sister was very annoying with her camera (phone)! Sabrina and I gathered with the rest of the girls to watch the game between Koru & Ferguson. We cheered for Koru because one of the girls (Patricia/Lisa) use to attend our school. Whoever wins that game is going to be in the finals with us. Ferguson won that game. They were a very good team. Some of us were quite nervous.
Heather prayed for us before we got on that field. I went sub so that Sulieti can have a turn, she was on for a few minuets, until Timmi told me to go on, then she will come off, that was just the first round. We were losing in the first half. The way Timmi talked to us felt like she was preaching! It was the last half, we screamed out our cheer! Then we ran onto the field proud to represent Pt England. Sadly for us, they were a very good team and they won the finals. We walked off the field and some girls were crying, and the rest were just disappointing. Rosalina's dad was saying "Cheer up girls, you still are the 2nd best in Auckland right?" I tried so hard not to let the tears out! But anyways we done our cheer and lined up next to Ferguson for the prize giving.
At the end of the day, we though we had the best supporters ever! It felt like they were paparazzi with there phones, we stood there smiling, some girls quickly wiped there tears away! It was so so so quiet when we packed our tarpaulin that we sat on and our bags. Timmi gave out some treats for us to eat, while we take off our rugby boots and put on our other shoes. It was a tough day! As we got to school everyone was so curious of what place we came. We told them we came second.
What I like about rugby is that it's the only time you can get violent! What I dislike about the game is that I always get called for high tackling or shouldering because i'm too tall! But I really love the game, it's my favourite sport. My highlight of the day was just spending time with the girls and having fun!

Technological Process
Walt: Technological Process
Today in my literacy class we had to find 5 buddies to pair up with, I went with Revival, Uasi, Jayde, Amelia, and Alexis. We were given a task from my literacy teacher, Mrs Judd! The task was to create a structure that can hold as many books it can, the hard part is, we only can use jellybeans and 200 toothpicks. First myself and my team brainstormed that we should make boxes with the two ingredients. Then we connected them together, it ended up being very long, it was about 8 x 3 long! After we have completed our project we tried to decorate the structure, but it looked really messy so we just left it. At the end we tested ours to see if we would beat the other team that lasted with 7 heavy books, our project unfortunately we only got on five books! So at least we came 2nd.

Visual Mihi 2017!
Hello there bloggers! If you haven't met me yet, well my name is Vinolia. I am a year 8 student that is currently attending, Pt England school. This is my Visual Mihi that shows you bloggers out there a bit about my life. So lets start with the first square on the top left. That picture is about how I was basically was raised going to church and also attending Sunday school every Sunday, I love going to church because I get to learn new things in christ and spend time with my spiritual brothers and sisters. As like the text says, Jesus christ/The Lord is my light, and my Salvation! The square beside it, is one place that I am grateful of attending Pt England school, I am very sad that this is my last year attending Pt England. I always like waking up to go school because I enjoy playing with my friends and learning with my beautiful and hansom teachers! Even though i'm going college net year I will always keep the words "Strive to succeed" i'm me. The next square is my culture! I am very proud to be fully Tongan. My mother comes from the village of Houma, and my father comes from Ha'apai, Koulo. The square beside the beautiful Tongan flag is one word that is very special to me. My family inspires me the most and pushes me in my education, they are the most important people in the world to me! I love them and always will!
Thats it from me I hope that you will leave comments on my blogpost and that you for reading my very long blogpost about me!
THANK YOU!!!
