Social Studies - Term 1 2018
This term in social studies, it has been a good start to the year. We have been leaning lots with Ms Robertson. Last week we were learning about Custom/Tradition practice. We were to pick any tradition around the world. I chose a Tongan Putu. I chose that tradition because I am very familiar with it. I am actually proud of myself, because at the end of last week we were to present our presentations that we made about the Custom/Tradition practice that we researched about. I did not completely finish the presentation but I presented everything I had.
In my presentation I had a few photos of a Tongan Putu. I explained how long it runs for. In one of the slides I listed a few traditions of what is a must be done. For example, when you wear a ta’ovala (Mat you wear around your body) there are different types of ta’ovala’s you should wear. And the higher it is to your head, the more closer you are related to the person who had currently passed. Another example of a tradition during a Putu is when you vut your hair. There are more cultures who also cut their hair during a traditinal event.
Anyways, after I presented my presentation I fel very releaved that it was done. I think I could of emproved the way I talked and the past I talked at. I think that I had good eye contact with the audience.
