Sharing my learning in Year 10 Science with Mrs Wells

Ever since jumpstart has begun, I got a different Science teacher, her name is Mrs. Wells. I've had 6 periods with her. We've been learning about how Parakuihi and Hauora (breakfast & wellbeing) is important to our bodies. Last week we had a special guest (Alvina) who is a former Tamaki college student, she came and talked to us about how much breakfast is important. She did a survey on students in Tonga about what they eat for breakfast, she also asked where they get their food from (eg. home or shops). We also did the Survey. She then made a presentation on the differences with students from New Zealand (us) and students in Tonga. We were the same age. We've also learned about nutrients that help our body to improve and get going. Mrs Wells said that later on, we will be making raps about things that we've learned in the past and also the future. I am looking forward to exploring new things that I had never knew existed. Also, I am excited about doing practicals in Science. This can help me later in the future with my life.

Cake server

Last term in Metalworks, I was given a choice of making a cake server or a pizza cutter. As you can see, I had chosen to make a cake server. There were many steps to making a cake server. First I remember that sir (Mr. Naiker) handed us a handle each. We first sandpapered our handle, then smoothed it out with a black piece of polishing paper. We then were handed a piece of square metal to line. Sir then cut it with shears. We then did the same thing, sandpaper, then polish. Sir then took it off us and used his tools to connect the two pieces together. He then bent it with these other tools I've never seen in my life. And last, we polished it to make it shiny with metal polish. Here is my finished cake server.
