Sharing my learning in Year 10 Science with Mrs Wells

Ever since jumpstart has begun, I got a different Science teacher, her name is Mrs. Wells. I've had 6 periods with her. We've been learning about how Parakuihi and Hauora (breakfast & wellbeing) is important to our bodies. Last week we had a special guest (Alvina) who is a former Tamaki college student, she came and talked to us about how much breakfast is important. She did a survey on students in Tonga about what they eat for breakfast, she also asked where they get their food from (eg. home or shops). We also did the Survey. She then made a presentation on the differences with students from New Zealand (us) and students in Tonga. We were the same age. We've also learned about nutrients that help our body to improve and get going. Mrs Wells said that later on, we will be making raps about things that we've learned in the past and also the future. I am looking forward to exploring new things that I had never knew existed. Also, I am excited about doing practicals in Science. This can help me later in the future with my life.

Cake server

Last term in Metalworks, I was given a choice of making a cake server or a pizza cutter. As you can see, I had chosen to make a cake server. There were many steps to making a cake server. First I remember that sir (Mr. Naiker) handed us a handle each. We first sandpapered our handle, then smoothed it out with a black piece of polishing paper. We then were handed a piece of square metal to line. Sir then cut it with shears. We then did the same thing, sandpaper, then polish. Sir then took it off us and used his tools to connect the two pieces together. He then bent it with these other tools I've never seen in my life. And last, we polished it to make it shiny with metal polish. Here is my finished cake server.

1080 Poison

75 kilograms of Poison pallets landed in the national park on Stewart Island. People are using it to get rid of rats, possums, stoats, and feral cats. I feel as if it is too dangerous because people should just use the normal tools to get rid of these things.

Cybersmart

When you are being cybersmart, you are being aware of the dangerous things that you can come across. When you are doing the right thing on the internet and being positive on social media. It is important to be smart online because some people are capable of doing/saying very bad things online and it is dangerous because it can affect you (emotionally). I learned that it can also help you in the future, because if you aren’t being cybersmart, people can see your history and what you’ve posted, and that can affect your reputation.

A personal strategy that you can help yourself (If your being bullied) you can either talk to someone or your school's student council. You can stand up for yourself and tell them how much of a cyberbully that person has been to you. If you have a friend who is being cyberbullied, you could talk to them and make them feel better (eg, compliments). If you find yourself being the cyberbully, you should think of how the victims are feeling. And cut out how calling them names and treat them just like how you would want to be treated.

Banning Plastic Bags

Image result for jacinda ardern

Jacinda Adern made an announcement about banning plastic bags in 1 years time. They made a petition about it. 65,000 signed it, so this is why they are going to do it. I reckon it will cause an impact because shoppers will find it difficult to carry their shopping, not only the shoppers but also people who use plastic bags on a daily. For example, New Zealanders need plastic bags to put in their trash bins, to use it for storage, and many more. On the other hand, I also think that the pollution will decrease because some people don't recycle their rubbish. As for the government, they could create groups of politics. But it is what it is, if it happens, people will have to learn to deal with it.

Math Term 2

This term in Math, I have been learning a lot of new things. We learnt so many things, my highlighted topic that we learnt about was actually Bedmas. Bedmas stands for brackets, exponents, division, multiplication, addition, and subtraction. Miss Munooz gave us a set of questions to warm up every period we had with her. And the questions had to do with bedmas. I think that I just need to focus on learning more about Perimeter and the Area's of a shape. I think that there is nothing else that should be changed. I enjoy learning about Math.
